Lady's mile beach

We are now going to watch the Lady’s mile beach

Lady’s mile is a beach in the south-west part of the city of Limassol. The name of the beach comes from a horse of an officer of the British forces and it is estimated to be 1 mile long. It is unspoilt nature away from buildings, except from a few restaurants of the coast. The sand in this area has a grey colour. Lady’s mile beach is near the Akrotiri Salt Lake. This is a reason why many birds such as sea gulls visit this area as they visit the salt lake too. It also has a little vegetation on it such as shrubs. It is an area of high environmental importance because many sea turtles visit and lay their eggs in sand of this beach such as the longhead Caretta caretta and the Green turtle Chelonia mydas which are protected species from Nature and Wildlife law.
