Very near to the salt lake of Larnaca near the airport you can find the artificial lakes of Larnaca. The lakes cannot be seen from the road and in order to get there you must drive through a dirt road. There are two artificial lakes one next to the other. As you can see this area is very good for bird watching as there are many species of birds on the surface of the artificial lakes. It is not permitted to enter inside the area of the artificial lakes and this is how they are surrounded by a fence. But there is a bird watching tower where you can sit and watch the birds from a distance. Birds that visit the salt lake also visit the artificial lakes, such as Flamingos (Phoenicopterus rubber), gulls (Larus ridibundus) and many species of ducks. ​
